Joining the DVFD

We are always accepting applications for new members even though we may not be adding any addtional members at the time.  We can keep your application on file and contact you when we are adding new members.  You can get an application by downloading it from the link below,  seeing a department member, or by calling the station at 754-1332.  Please return your application the the fire department and not the Dresden Municipal Building.

The Dresden Volunteer Fire Department is currently accepting applications for both men and women that are over the age of 18 who are interested in volunteering as Emergency Medical Techinitions (EMT) and/or Firefighters.  At this time we are in need of EMT’s but our fire slots are full, however we will still take an application for Firefighters. 
As an EMT you will be trained to handle many pre-hospital emergency situations such as CPR, bleding control, broken bones, breathing difficulties, and other traumatic and medical emergencies.
As a Firefighter you will be trained to handle structure fires, rescue emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and other emergency situations.
Duties and responsibilities of an EMT/Firefighter are as folows; respond to emergency runs when called for, attend bi-weekly meeting/training, perform ambulance/truck inspections and re-supply, help with fundraisers, plus help with other department activities and functions as needed.
Requirements to be a volunteer EMT/Firefighter for DVFD
  • Be a male or female at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid Ohio drivers licence
  • Pass a driving record and background check
  • High School graduate or have GED
  • Good physical condition
  • Live within the Dresden area
  • Attend an EMT-Basic class and/or a basic Firefighter class (PAID by the DVFD)
Being on any fire department or emergency squad requires a great deal of time and commitment.  The DVFD tries to recognize this and adds different activities throughout the year to show its appreciation of this commitment by providing  free to its members an Awards Dinner each winter, a Pool Party in the summer, and a Wiener Roast in the fall.  Also along with these fire department activities some murchants offer discounts (With Proper I.D.) throughout the year for community servants/protectors.  Auto Zone, the 1340 Café, and Circle K!
